Brackenridge Private residential Estate
Plettenberg bay, south africa

Fire Management
The Garden Route is a designated high-risk fire area, and proactive fire management is essential to protecting both our homes and this sensitive natural biome. In line with legal requirements, Brackenridge Estate implements a comprehensive fire management strategy to reduce wildfire risk and support long-term environmental health.
Prescribed Burns
The estate is legally required to carry out prescribed (controlled) burns in accordance with the National Veld and Forest Fire Act (NVFFA). These burns are meticulously planned, conducted under strict weather conditions, and overseen by trained professionals to reduce fuel loads and prevent uncontrolled wildfires.
Firebreaks
All homeowners are required to maintain compliant firebreaks on their properties. Firebreaks play a critical role in slowing or stopping the spread of fire and protecting both private homes and communal areas. Please consult the firebreak map below to ensure the correct widths are maintained at all times.
On-Site Fire Marshals
Brackenridge Estate has a dedicated team of on-site fire marshals who undergo professional training twice a year. They work closely with management and emergency services to ensure rapid response, ongoing preparedness, and adherence to safety protocols throughout the fire season.
By working together and remaining compliant, we help safeguard lives, property, and the extraordinary natural environment that defines Brackenridge Estate.
